Looking back at Celia Cruz’s legendary status, you’d never guess it, but Celia Cruz was supposed to be a literature teacher. He was born and raised in the Santos Suárez neighborhood of Havana, where he grew up as part of a family of 14 in a large house that was probably always noisy and full of energy. It was probably in this environment that he learned to shout at others, a skill that would later serve him well on stage.
After graduating from high school, he attended Normal School in Havana. His goal is simple. He liked to spend his time correcting grammar and explaining poetry to his students. he has a plan. He has his own career path. Then the universe intervened via a talent show.
He won.
This victory completely changed the course of his life. Instead of submitting a course plan, Cruz abandoned his studies to pursue singing. It was a leap of faith. Most people would have stayed in the safety of the classroom. She chose the mic. This decision paved the way for her to become the Queen of Salsa, proving that the best training comes from winning competitions you never wanted to compete in.
